Guru Nanak Satsang Sikh Gurdwara (GNSSG) was founded in 1966 and holds the distinction of being Wolverhampton’s first Sikh Gurdwara. From its beginnings as a small local sangat, it has grown into a place of prayer and reflection, serving the wider community.
Guided by the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Gurdwara focuses not on status or recognition, but on living with humility, peace, and compassion. It provides a welcoming space for all to gather, meditate, learn, and engage in seva — selfless service for the benefit of others.
Over the years, GNSSG has supported important community discussions, including the right to wear the turban in public spaces, at work, and while riding motorcycles, always with the aim of upholding dignity, equality, and mutual respect.
Our purpose remains simple: to reflect the light of the Gurus’ teachings, to bring peace into daily life, and to help people live with understanding and respect for one another, whatever their background or belief.
Guru Nanak Satsang Sikh Gurdwara is spread across two neighbouring buildings, providing spaces for worship, learning, and community service.
The main building houses the primary Diwan Hall, Langar Hall and kitchen, along with offices, washrooms, and storage areas. This is where most daily programmes and main congregations take place.
The adjoining building includes an additional Diwan Hall and Langar Hall with its own kitchen and facilities. Upstairs, there is a well-equipped gym and sports room, as well as a classroom used for Punjabi and religious studies.
Further classrooms are located across both buildings, supporting children’s Kirtan sessions and homework support. Limited parking is available at the rear and side of the premises, with additional parking conveniently located opposite the main entrance across the road.
